John Cena will Referee : Jinder Mahal vs Brock Lesnar - Says Reports

There have been rumors that WWE wants to use a special guest referee for Brock Lesnar's main event against Jinder Mahal at the upcoming Survivor Series A-list tournament on Nov. 19 in Houston, Texas. The three names considered were John Cena, Steve Austin Stone Cold and The Rock.

Of the three, the easiest answer, and the one that makes the most sense, for a number of reasons, is Cena.

It is therefore not surprising that the Wrestling Observer reports that Cena was chosen for this role.

We have not seen or heard of Cena since his loss of Roman Reigns to No Mercy on September 24, but he was expected for this show in one form or another. As a free agent at the main event level, it is appropriate to officiate the headlining match featuring Raw champion taking the SmackDown champion in an untitled fight.

WWE recently announced that AJ Styles will challenge Mahal for the WWE Championship on SmackDown Live next week, so the game may change before it gets there. That would not do much to change Cena's role, assuming the report is true. The company did not make any announcement and did not even really suggest the possibility of a special guest referee on television.

John Cena has been announced to appear in the PPV Survivor Series since promotions for the event began and it has also been posted on the official website that indicated a great match at the event. But, he was moved to Raw for a match against Roman Reigns at No Mercy, after which he paused.
Subsequently, his name was removed from the promotion as he would no longer be available for the preparation of the last double brand PPV event of the year. Brock Lesnar took his place in the main event slot machine to figure in a huge game against champion.
While the current WWE schedule suggests that he is not ready to return until the end of the year, some recent reports suggest he will be involved in a unique appearance in the Survivor PPV series. He is expected to be a special guest arbiter during this night.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com states that the 16-time world champion will return to officiate the main event of Survivor Series, a match between Brock Lesnar Vs Jinder Mahal. There are many reasons to insert Cena into such a role.

John Cena is the only athlete in the company to have the "free agent" label. He can work on Raw and Smackdown Live because of this. So, this is a valid reason why it may be a special attraction for the PPV event on the theme of the brand Vs. It should be neutral to call the shots.
In addition, many rumors already suggest that John Cena vs. Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship will be a main event at Wrestlemania 34. With Cena being the official Survivor Series, the seeds of the rivalry will be planted.

It is speculated that the modern Maharaja will continue his title reign just to get a match against "the face running the place" at the biggest stadium of all. If WWE officially includes the Cenation Leader in the scenario, the fact will be confirmed, indirectly.
